First Events Of The Book

 The Giver  (Chapter 3-4)

In chapter three and four (3-4)  of the book ´´ The giver´´ Jonas father took baby Gabe home, after some steering at the baby Jonas realized that he and the baby Gabe had the same eye color.  They had lighter eyes than the most of the community where they lived. The majority of the citizens had darker eyes, which make them different, it also make Jonas think if he could be related with him. Also for the ceremony of twelve the eleven’s had to prepare themselves for that important step of their lives.  One way to prepare themselves was doing volunteer hours at different places. One of this places which Fiona, Asher and Jonas went was the ´´Hose Of the Old´´. They spend time bathing them and talking having a good conversation with old people that lived in there.  People that wasn’t old or new born was prohibited watched them naked.
´´He had been permitted an additional month in which to complete the hours,  and then given his assignment privately, with no applause, no celebration: a disgrace that had clouded his entire future.´´
´´It´good to have some volunteers here today´´ , the attendant told him. ´´ We celebrate a release this morning, and that always throws the schedule off a little, so things get back up.´´ She looked at a printed sheet. Let´s see. Asher and Fiona are helping in the bathing room. Why don’t you join them in there? You know where it is, don´t you? (pg 28)                                                  when I read this I imagine Jonas doing everything that the text said, I also imagine his happy face when he saw the attendant that received him at the entry of the center, I felt so good reading this cause I made a connection with my life…. Some times with my family ( specially with my mom) we do volunteer hours in which help people, old, kids, adults… people that need help, people that have a family and it´s hard for them to subs tent everyone, or simply we help, give love to  people that need love.  Besides is really fun, we change our way of thinking and looking our lives.  I also read in 6th grade a text that talk about people needs and feelings, when they are alone and when they have love.As a conclusion in chapter 3-4 of the book ´´The Giver´´ Jonas is preparing him for the ceremony of twelve. He also has baby Gabriel draughts of why are some many people with darker eyes and so few with lighter.  He have done volunteer hours and is obedient toward his parents, he enjoy his volunteer hours because he gain experience for a good job a good future.  Everybody making something different and making something fun makes us better persons and also in many ways we can learn something knew from this experience.

    1. Thank you Ari for your comment, this book make me thought a lot in some things, like the way someone cannot be free to do what they want. I also thought about the way people would feel if they couldn’t be free. They had to do everything that was demanded. Furthermore I also thought about the new born child that weren't called by a name, instead they were called by a code number.

    1. Ignacio! Thanks to have something about to say in my post…. About your question of the brighter eyes between Jonas and baby Gabriel; why where they special, I think that they are special ‘cause the majority of their people (their community) have dark eyes and they are only some expectations that don’t, Jonas and baby Gabe case. I also think that at some point they are going to make the difference in their community.
